Research published in Obstetrics and Gynecology showed that a simple face-to-face encounter with a person to discuss breastfeeding information before the baby was born significantly improved breastfeeding practices up to three months after delivery. Providing a mother with printed or audiovisual educational information was not enough. Therefore it was suggested that healthcare workers should make an effort to have at least one face-to-face encounter to discuss breastfeeding with expectant mothers.
The BRC provides one-on-one prenatal breastfeeding consultations. This is the perfect opportunity for mothers to get that face-to-face education with the most up to date information!
The consultation includes best practices in the first few days, how to breastfeed without pain, how to tell if baby is getting enough, and much more! Moms will have an opportunity to ask questions they may be uncomfortable asking in a classroom setting.
