Rain in the forecast didn’t keep friends of the BRC from enjoying a beautiful October evening at the Morris Arboretum in support of the BRC! Thanks to the generous support of those who attended the bash and provided sponsorship and donations, this year’s bash yielded $53,500- the greatest financial support we’ve ever received! This generosity provides the BRC with the ability to offer sliding-scale lactation consultation, prenatal classes, IBCLC-run free support groups for caregivers, and many more community resources and programs.
As light music filled the event space, guests enjoyed served appetizers and beverages while mingling with those in their community who have also been touched by the BRC. Connections were made and refreshed, as stories of ties to the BRC were shared among attendees. Silent auction items included a trip to Disney, museum tickets, beach getaways, sporting memorabilia and more!

Colette Acker, the founder and director of the BRC, educated attendees on the countless support opportunities offered by the Breastfeeding Resource Center and its vision for the future. Guests were moved by video testimonials from BRC clients, attesting to the personalized and continued care they received from the center. As coffee and desserts, donated by Frosted Cake Studios, rolled out as a nightcap to a wonderful evening, the live appeal inspired even more donors to contribute to the good work done by the BRC. Board treasurer Curt Parnes and his wife generously matched all live appeal donations. Tickets were held high as 50/50 and live auction winners were announced, and everyone left the bash in a jovial mood, heartened by having played a part in creating something beautiful for our community.
