Join Us! Become a volunteer counselor with the BRC and offer information and support to other breastfeeding moms in the community! We offer our training course twice a year.
The BRC Community Counselor Training is a 5-week course with 5 in-person classes.
The SPRING 2019 Training Class runs Thursdays, April 11th through May 9th
You must be able to attend all five in-person classes and have internet access to complete the course. Classes meet at the Breastfeeding Resource Center’s Abington office. 1355 Old York Rd., Abington, PA. from 7:00-10:00PM.
The BRC Community Counselor Training Class, taught by the BRC’s own IBCLCs, is designed to prepare students to counsel mothers over the telephone or via email or text. BRC Community Counselors must have breastfed or pumped for 6 months before taking the course. No outside healthcare professionals are able to take this course at this time.
Required Class Text: Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple: A Guide for Helping Mothers by Nancy Mohrbacher. We strongly recommend you purchase the book on your own (e.g. through Amazon) so you will have it as a resource after class. You may be able to borrow one from previous students if it is cost prohibitive for you and your family.
The cost of the training class is $100. Join our fabulous group of breastfeeding advocates TODAY!
