- Help to manage our closed facebook group with quality information and excellent counseling skills.
- Take on families who wish to have a personal counselor that they can contact via text, email, or phone with questions or concerns.
We offer our training course twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. The BRC Community Counselor Training is a 6-week VIRTUAL course. The SPRING 2021 Training Class runs Wednesdays, March 31st – May 5th from 7:00-10:00PM.
You must have internet access and be able to attend all six virtual classes in order to complete the course. Classes will meet via Zoom. Registrants will receive the proper log-in information a few days before the first class.

If I breast and bottle-fed, can I still be a counselor? YES! As long as you breastfed exclusively OR with supplementation for at least 6 months.
I exclusively pumped, can I still be a counselor? YES! As long as you pumped for at least 6 months.
How much time will this class take?? We try to make this very do-able for families. There are 15 hours of actual in-class time. Be prepared to spend an additional 2-3 hours per week for reading assignments and role-plays.
Once I’m a counselor, what is the time commitment? It depends. We ask that you take assigned moms on a regular basis, and every case is different. You determine whether you can give 1 hour a week or 5 hours a week.
How will I get connected to moms? Our Community Counselor Coordinator will contact you with referrals.
What other opportunities are available to me as a counselor? You get to attend 2 FREE STUDY NIGHTS a year to keep updated on the the latest and greatest in breastfeeding (we keep them fun & social). You will be one of the first groups in-the-know for upcoming BRC events like the Fall Fundraiser and other exciting events! You can volunteer for special BRC projects and fundraising efforts. You can participate in our annual book club night!
I’m a nurse/doctor/etc., can I take this course? Unfortunately at this time, this course is solely designed for peer counseling and not qualified for CERPs or as continuing healthcare education.
If you have additional questions about the course, please contact Louisa at Louisa@BRC4babies
