One of our recent support group moms asked if I had ever heard of using breastmilk for ear infections. Uses for breastmilk (other than feeding a baby) have been around for CENTURIES! It’s been believed to cure diaper rash, conjunctivitis and even acne!
Mostly, people think this is just odd. But let’s think about this for a moment.
Human milk is loaded with antibacterial and antiviral components . . .so why wouldn’t it be helpful? There are warnings on products like Desitin that say, “Call Poison Control if swallowed” and “Don’t get it in your eyes.” Any problem if that happens with breastmilk? NOPE! It surely can’t hurt.
This article has some interesting ideas for breastmilk. Of course, we would encourage you to contact your child’s physician for things like ear infections.
